Steven is no stranger to life behind the camera.
His interest was first sparked when directors began asking for his insight, after noticing how his keen attention to detail, and passion for the process stood out among his cast mates. These opportunities encouraged and motivated him to add one more talent to his arsenal.
His directorial debut was in Nov 2012 when he directed the stage play "I Love You Bunches" for Manhattan Repertory Theater's Hurricane Sandy Relief Benefit : A Night of Short Plays and Theatrical Readings. Since then, Steven has directed 6 short plays, 4 short films, 2 Web Series', 2 fashion photo shoots, and co-directed 2 Off-Broadway plays. His film directorial debut was “Beautiful Killer”, which won Best Short Film(Charlottes Black Film Festival) in 2015. His passion for the work and ability to speak an actors language makes him not only an actors director, but a great director to work with.
Steven recently added "producer" to his credits with the creation of his independent production company, STRICKLAND MEDIA GROUP, LLC.. He’s produced several short films as well as his own talk show, Strickly Speaking with Steven Strickland. Mr. Strickland always looks forward to creating content that will entertain, enlighten, and start conversations.

Uhuru Now
“Uhuru Now” is a coming of age web series surrounding six young adults attending university and seeking purpose in their lives. Upon membership into Lorenzo Jason University’s Pan African society “Uhuru Now“, all six learn to adjust to new territory while striving for one common goal - to use this platform to discuss much needed change and growth in this country.
